Hybrid Media: Project 2
The intentions behind this Processing project is to present data visualization of the images based on the Google Image search result for the keyword “Andy Warhol.” My interest lies in observing the popularity within the content of the images associated with the keyword Any Warhol within the first page of the Google Image results.
The program is designed in a rectangular window to compliment the timeline aesthetic that best presents the popularity of the images starting from the least popular (displayed on the left side of the screen) to the most popular (displayed on the right side of the screen).
The banana images are not placed in the program for mere decoration, but rather to conceptually represent the colors that are most dominant in the image results within the first page. Moreover, the size of the banana represents how much of that particular color is displayed in the images.
The interactivity of this program is introduced to the user when the cursor is at close proximity to the small lime-green ellipse shape. Once the ellipse shape is “activated” by the cursor, a series of images appear as the cursor moves along the thick red line along the middle of the program. However, not all images are the same size. The smaller images that sporadically appear are activated by sound. For example, the louder the sound, the bigger the image becomes. The conceptual idea behind this is that the images that are most popular within the Google Image search, expand to be viewed more clearly because the user is bringing more attention to the image by speaking loudly or making a loud noise.
